Living and working on the beautiful island of Galveston, Sandra Viser is a ceramic artist with a life-long passion for the arts which is reflected in her works. A painter and later a mixed media artist, she has truly found her calling as a ceramic artist.
For the last few years she has been focusing on sgraffito pottery. Sgraffito is an Italian word meaning to scratch. Sandra’s sgraffito works are created by applying an underglaze to clay then waiting for that perfect state to begin “scratching” to create her unique organic designs. Working freehand from a sketch inspired by nature, her designs are inspired by her research into the recurring images of the flower as a reoccurring theme historically in artworks of all cultures throughout time.
